babe i can fight the patriarchy and ride a dick those things are not mutually exclusive
Every time I see a post that implies being a bottom means you are lesser or submissive by someone in this fandom, I can’t help but think how fucking rude that is.
I usually think about Sebastian too and how hurt his feelings must be by it.
So someone likes it up the ass, so what? God forbid they prefer the kind of pleasure that comes from getting their prostate stimulated.
plus tops aren’t the ones that are being stretched and everything so who’s the tougher one here, hah!
no but really, people think it’s equal only if they share???like??? it’s not when someone is only bottom?? or only a top?? does it make them lesser or something so they need to share to equal it?
I stopped reading after “he’s the more submissive one” because now you’re just insulting me lol
But that’s exactly the issue: it’s a personal choice, for /them/ to make.
When the people in this fandom go for one last name (i’m not even going to discuss Louis Styles because no one seems to really care for it…shocker) they are making it seem like the other last name is insignificant. And not only that, but yes, it is hetero-normative, let’s stop beating around the bush; in western cultures, it is more than common for straight couples to take the male last name. Of course there are exceptions to the rule! My mom is one of them. But that doesn’t take away from the fact that taking one last name is a commonly very hetero thing to do, specifically taking the man’s last name. It’s a part of the patriarchy that enforces male dominance, and fortunately, things are changing a bit.
You also can’t tell me that there’s not a serious correlation between people who prefer bottom!harry and people who are so adamant about this Harry Tomlinson thing. Yes, again, there are exceptions, but there are patterns here. Loads of bottom!louis people go for Louis Styles. Why? Because bottoming, as far as this fandom can see, is the more feminine thing to do, and therefore, he who bottoms, loses his last name. It’s the same thing as people assuming there’s always a girl and a guy in gay relationships. It’s gross, hetero-normative and way too common in this fandom, and as someone that identifies as a gay male, it’s more than annoying.
If they ever decided to take one name, then good for them, they made a decision that they believed was best for their relationship, and I would support them no matter what. But for now, this assumption that it’s going to be Harry that takes Louis’ last name is getting on my nerves, because if it’s really their choice, let it be theirs.
In the meantime, I support Styles-Tomlinson and Tomlinson-Styles, because it gives both names equal weight. I also understand that as celebrities and music artists, they probably won’t even change their names, but rather, give their kids a hyphenation, if and when kids become a factor, because lbr, they wants kids so bad. I just hate the belittling of one of their names for the sake of making the other more important.
